Ulviye Aleyna Sarıgül, who graduated this year from the Department of Cinema and Digital Media at Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Faculty of Communication, and third-year student Dila Şengezer have reached the finals of the International Adana Golden Boll (Altın Koza) Film Festival with their documentary films. 

Brought to life with the contributions of the faculty members and students of the Department of Cinema and Digital Media, "Blue, Revolution and VHS Tapes" continues to add new achievements to its festival journey.

The Cinema and Ethics Symposium, organized by the Department of Cinema and Digital Media and the Department of New Media and Communication at Izmir University of Economics, was held on Friday, May 15, 2026, at the university’s Balçova Campus.

As part of Best of Foça Film Days 2025, the documentaries "Artifakt Savaşı" and "İpek Gibi Gökyüzü, Portakallarla Dolu," featured in the Foça Film Days selection, were screened at the Department of Cinema and Digital Media at Izmir University of Economics.

On Friday, November 7, 2025, a puppet and armature-making workshop was held with guest animation artist Nisan Denizci as part of CDM 307: Stop Motion Animation.

The success of young talents from Izmir University of Economics (IUE) dominated the Kadir Has University (KHAS) Short Film Competition, which was held for the second time this year. 

The short documentary Rengê Kevir by Tuğba Yaşar, a 2024–2025 graduate of the Department of Cinema and Digital Media, won the Best Documentary Film Award in the National Student Films Competition at the 32nd International Adana Golden Boll Film Festival.

Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Department of Cinema and Digital Media student Yağmur Canpolat's short film titled ‘Sevim,’ in which she cast her 88-year-old grandmother, has been selected as a finalist at the 44^th Istanbul Film Festival this year. 

Bilge Olcay Yılmaz and Yağmur Türkmenoğlu, students of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Department of Cinema and Digital Media, made it to the finals of the 4^th Kaş International Film Festival with their documentary film titled ‘Thrifted’.

Berhan Mete Arkın, a graduate of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) who continued his studies in Slovenia, won an award at the Zagreb Film Festival with the script for his film ‘Aylan’ which explores the moral dilemma of a soldier tasked with enforcing border regulations.
