EPI.LOG 2018, the annual End of Year Exhibition by the Department of Cinema and Digital Media (CDM) will take place from May 22 to May 25, 2018 at the Faculty of Communications Studios (Block K) on İzmir University of Economics Campus. The exhibition will include digital media projects by third year CDM students and the gala screenings of graduation project films by fourth year CDM students. There will also be three events hosting guest speakers. We will be happy to see you at the exhibition and parallel events.
Derya Özkan, the Head of the Department of Cinema and Digital Media, was in Mytilene, Lesvos, to teach as part of the Masters Program in Culture and Documentary Film Production at the Department of Cultural Technology and Communication at the University of Aegean from April 23rd to April 27th.
Award winning documentary director Tahsin İşbilen will be visiting Cinema and Digital Media Deparment giving an artist’s talk at Cinema and Digital Media Loft(K-102) on 3rd of May at 11.00 am.
CDM students Onur Erdurak, Canberk Günay, Murat Etyemez, Ali Galip Özkaya and Begüm Aksoy received their plaques from the IEU administration at the ceremony for the 17th anniversary of the founding of the university for their film Stranded that got into the Short Film Corner at Cannes Film Festival. Turkish actor and scriptwriter Ali Ulvi Hunkar will be visiting Cinema and Digital Media Department, giving an artist's talk at Cinema and Digital Media Loft on March 23rd Friday at 13 pm. The talk is open to the public.
The 71st Cannes Film Festival, to take place in France from 14th to the 19th of May, 2018, will host the students of IEU’s Cinema and Digital Media department this year.
On Friday, the 24th of November, IEU Faculty of Communication Studios hosted a film screening organized by the Cinema and Media Club in collaboration with The Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine. Steven Soderbergh’s 2011 film Contagion was screened in the event. There was an interdisciplinary discussion about the film after the screening.
