Visual Display of Data and Information
The aim of this workshop is to introduce the basic notions and processes of data visualization and allowing participants to explore various approaches by programming. Participants will experience a basic workflow to visualize vast amount of data to create an infographic on a given or chosen phenomenon. Targeted output of the workshop might be high resolution print or screen based animated or interactive graphics
Atif Akin (1979, Turkey) is an artist and designer. He worked and took part in international projects in the field of contemporary art, science and politics. His work is listed in the Younger Than Jesus art directory of New Museum, published by Phaidon. He joined the Visual Arts Department faculty at Rutgers University in September 2011 and since then he runs his studio in New York City. He curated an extensive media art exhibition, Uncharted: User Frames in Media Arts in 2009 and also edited a book by the same name. He also curated other shows commissioned by universities and cultural institutions in Europe such as the Goethe Institute, KHM, University of Liege, ZKM and Ars Electronica. Currently he is working Mutant Space, a large scope research driven art/design project on radioactivity and nuclear power production.
