‘Cumartesi Gecesi’ premieres in 3 countries

The internet series ‘Cumartesi Gecesi’ (Saturday Night)’, scripted by Eylül Berivan Kızılırmak, who graduated from Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Department of Cinema and Digital Media this year, was accepted to the festival in 3 different countries. The series, which is about different events that people in the same neighborhood experience on a Saturday will reach thousands of art lovers at festivals to be held in Germany, England and Australia. Stating that the first 2 episodes have been completed, the series took place at the Berlin GRRL Haus Cinema and London Internet Series Festival, and will be broadcast at the Sydney Digital Festival in Australia in the coming days, Kızılırmak said, “It is a source of pride for my series to be included in festivals where ambitious projects with large budgets take place”.
Eylül Berivan Kızılırmak (23), a graduate of IUE Faculty of Communication, Department of Cinema and Digital Media, worked for about 1 year for the series 'Saturday Night', which she brought to life as part of her university graduation project. The series were shot in Konak and Balçova districts of Izmir. While Kızılırmak had a few young actors played in the series, whom she found on the internet, she received support from her university friends during the shooting. Despite the difficult pandemic conditions, Kızılırmak, who started shooting the series with the support of academics from IUE, said that she aimed to finish 5 episodes of the series in a short time.
I THOUGHT ABOUT THE SCRIPT A LOT
Kızılırmak, who has achieved a hard-to-reach success by getting famous in the international arena, said, “I thought a lot while creating the script for the series. Finally, I wanted to focus on the different lives that people live in the same place and at the same time, with the thought that it would arouse curiosity. You can experience different emotions such as horror, drama and romance in the series. I didn't keep the scenes too long. I have created a concise and fluent plot as much as possible. The first 2 episodes of the series took place in the festivals. Of course I will continue this. I already wrote the script for the first 5 episodes. I will continue to develop the series. I don't have a time limit in the series, but I plan as short fiction as possible for the upcoming period.”
A WONDERFUL FEELING
Kızılırmak continued as follows: “I graduated from the University and a new era has begun for me. I want to improve myself in the field in which I have studied and worked. I am very interested in the movie industry. I think it is a difficult field to be successful without being interested. When I learned that my series was accepted to the international festival, I was excited and very happy. It was a wonderful feeling. I can say that it will give me strength and motivation for my future work. I would like to thank my academics who supported me and contributed a lot to my success.”
